Just as beautiful. Without the harm.
Animal leather is a by-product of an industry built on harm. The tanning process is one of the most chemically intensive in fashion — heavy on water use, heavy on pollutants. We don’t want any part of that. We’d rather make something just as beautiful without it.
This isn’t a compromise. The bags look great, feel great, and last years. The only thing missing is the harm.
Apple Leather
Apple leather starts as waste. The skins and pulp left over from apple juice and food production — material that would otherwise be discarded — are dried, ground into a fine powder, and mixed with a binding agent to form a flexible, durable sheet. It’s then finished to achieve the texture, weight, and surface feel we’re after.
Ours is sourced from Italy, where the apple industry produces a consistent, high-quality supply year-round. The result has structure, softness, and a clean natural scent.
Other Plant Leathers
We work with leathers made from other plant sources too — cactus, pineapple, and other fruit and vegetable by-products developed through a similar process. Food industry waste, transformed into something durable and well-finished.
Microfibre Leather
Microfibre is one of those materials that doesn’t get enough credit. It’s exceptionally soft against the hand, consistent in finish, and remarkably durable over time. We use it in select styles where we want a lighter weight and a refined, smooth surface. It performs quietly and reliably — exactly what we look for.
Synthetic Vegan Leather
Not all synthetic materials are created equal. The ones we use are engineered for performance — and in our testing, several have matched or outperformed conventional leather on durability, scratch resistance, and finish consistency. We choose materials on merit. If a synthetic vegan leather holds up better for a particular bag, that’s what we use.
Every detail, considered
The material is only part of it. Every Mir Kash bag is handcrafted — and the quality shows in how it feels to use. Stitching, zips, clasps, hardware — each detail is considered and tested until it’s exactly right. We believe a bag should be a pleasure to use, not just to look at.
